October 7, 2003 -The Harry Fox Agency, Inc. (HFA), which represents over 27,000 music publishers for their mechanical and digital licensing needs, announced today that it has entered into separate agreements with the ringtone providers Mitsui Comtek Corp. and 9 Squared Inc.The non-exclusive licenses cover monophonic, polyphonic, and pre-recorded ringtones (also known as master clip ringtones).
Mitsui Comtek's MyTonz ringtone service launched last year on the Verizon Wireless Network through Qualcomm's BREW platform. 9 Squared operates through a network of over 35 co-branded e-commerce sites, wireless carriers ringtone platforms, and RingTone JukeBox, a BREW ringtone application, which is available on Alltel, US Cellular, and Midwest Wireless.
The Harry Fox Agency is actively pursuing ringtone licensing deals on behalf of our affiliate publishers, and we're pleased to have agreements in place with Mitsui Comtek and 9Squared," said Gary Churgin, President and CEO, Harry Fox Agency.
