November 30, 2004 Jacqueline C. Charlesworth, Senior Vice President and General Counsel of The Harry Fox Agency, Inc. (HFA), the premier U.S. mechanical rights organization, announced today that Christos P. Badavas has joined the organization as Vice President and Senior Counsel in the Legal Department. Badavas, who will be focusing on HFA's litigation efforts, will report to Charlesworth. Prior to joining HFA, Badavas served as Senior Director of Legal Affairs at EMI Music North America.
"Christos comes to HFA with a strong litigation background, as well as music industry experience," said Charlesworth. "He will be a great asset to the legal team and to the publishers whose interests we represent."
Badavas is excited to join HFA and to experience the publishing side of the industry. "I look forward to the challenges of my new position, including protecting publishers' copyrights in the digital age."
Badavas had been at EMI since 2001, where his duties included managing litigation and copyright claims and royalty compliance issues. Prior to his work at EMI, he was the co-founder and general counsel for software company Zebware, Inc., where he was responsible for all company legal matters, including intellectual property protection. Before the creation of Zebware, he was a litigation associate at Richards & O'Neil, LLP (now Bingham McCutchen, LLP) from 1994-2000. He received B.A. degrees in Music and in International Relations from Brown University, and his J.D. from the College of William and Mary Law School. He is a member of the New York City Bar Judiciary Committee, as well as the bassist for the New York City Bar Choir.
